The Mirrors of Success

The International Day of Teachers is one of the most momentous day in the life of every teacher. It is the time of the year where we thank and celebrate our modern-day heroes, which is our teachers. Teachers can be also referred to as our second parents, mentors, counselors, heroes, and our guide to the path of success. These brave souls changed the movement of life, created a difference towards the ever-changing world of ours. They have once guided the doctors, lawyers, specialists, nurses, engineers architects, economists, and scientists of today. It clearly shows the significance of teachers in the growth, development, and innovation of our society.

As a Junior High School student, I can say that teachers played an important role and created a humongous impact on my development as a human being. I have learnt many lessons, may it be educational or life-related lessons. Many of these lessons remained in my heart, and I continue to apply these in every decision I create in my everyday life. I have met a lot of mentors in my entire life, and I am very grateful that they came into my life because if it weren't for them, I would not be able to attain the achievements I have reached today and I would also not be able to have this drive to learn more about life and our world. If it weren't for my teachers, I would not be able to be this version of myself. Teachers will always have an important place in my heart, and I will never forget the kindness, compassion, and support they have showed me while I continue my journey to success.

Numerous men and women hailed from different parts of the world have accepted the challenge - the challenge to teach the brilliant minds of the children, the hope of our world and the cream of the crop. They have continuously showed their strength and determination to inflame the passion inside the hearts and minds of their students. They have paved the way and unceasingly paving the way to success. Without these teachers, we would not have the growth and development we are presently having right now. We would not be able to improve and to be the best versions of ourselves. Without them, we would be hopeless, immoral human beings. These brave souls serve such recognition, because they served as our guide to the path of success. Our teachers serves as our mirrors, our mirrors to success.

Happy International Teachers' Day! Thank you for your service.

  1. Your deep wordplay is beyond phenomenal, Aeron! It is a showcase of your monumental skill in vocabulary and grammar that I truly find astonishing. Your wordplay is so deep to the point that the meaning of your blog entry title have become a conundrum for me. Would you mind sharing the meaning of those words, "The Mirrors of Success"?

May the Odds Ever Be in Our Favor

D reaming and expecting what you will be in the next ten years may sound nuts now that we are still in our adolescent years. Some may say, "Enjoy your childhood; you will never be young again when you turn old and wrinkled", or "Don't make haste on other things; just enjoy and have fun at the moment", but we cannot deny the fact that the future can already be foretold and foreshadowed based on our interests, goals, and principles in life.       After a decade, I would see myself as a registered nurse. I imagine myself walking on the corridors and hallways of the hospital or medical center I am working at, wearing my scrubs with a matching stethoscope on my shoulders and a clipboard and pen on my right hand. I have a nameplate on my uniform that says, "David Aeron Y. Arellano, RN", taking pride in the service and dignity my profession holds. I am serving my patients with the best of my abilities and also helping them with the warmest and most carin...

Parol: A Prismatic Yuletide Journey

The sound of Christmas music on the radio; the aroma of bibingka paskwa and tinubongs being sold around town; the flickering lights and well-wrapped gifts below the Christmas tree; and most especially, traditional Filipino parols hung outside almost every Filipino abode, shining throughout the night. Without these things, the Christmas season would definitely be incomplete. This year, my Christmas was different than those I had experienced a year and a half ago. Waking up to the tune of classic Christmas hits like Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas is You and Ryan Cayabyab's Kumukuti-kutitap, it warms my heart to feel the spirit of Christmas in our hearts again. It flashes back all the memories I had when I was a child, happily opening the presents given by my godparents. This year, I celebrated the Yuletide season with my family in Sinait. We wanted to try and experience how Christmas would be with our grandmother beside us. Before the clock struck 12, I was watching seve...

Cradle of the Champions

As I write this as my last entry for this blog, I feel extremely emotional as I reflect on my first days as a Maxwellian. Let us start at the beginning.      My emotions were mixed when the roster of Grade 10 students in their respective sections was released to the general public. I was a Maxwellian. I felt surprised and glad, and at some parts, I felt uneasy and nervous, for our sections were shifted and mixed with the other section already after becoming classmates for three years, and it was a hassle for me to meet and get to know my new classmates again.      Group chats were created, messages were exchanged, and greetings were shared with each and every one of us, expressing their utmost happiness and pleasure as they were also excited about the fact that we had new classmates, or maybe the classes were back to their original setup as they were before the pandemic struck.      Fast forward to the first day; it was no...
